I'm clueless about the bookwork at this point. However, it will be cool to get some discounts at Brownell's etc.

A C&R is a convienance, you can purchase C&R firearms off the internet boards and other gun sites. A Brownells discount is nice also.
Don't let your C&R expire, or you'll have to re-apply and redo all your paperwork. I know from experience.
