Move to Florida...same weather, no earthquakes/mudslides. We get the occasional hurricane, but if yer dumb enough to build a woodframe house in Florida, you need yer head examined anyway. Concrete & steel is the way to go, preferrably earth-sheltered halfway up a hill so the storm surge can't get in either.

Northwest Florida...you can get a 3br home in a decent neighborhood for around $475 a month if you shop a little

Abot $700-800 for south Fla if you shop carefully.

Oh, and our gun laws are some of the least restrictive towards legitimate gun owners...
Crooks, on the other hand, get the dark shaft due to three things.
1. 10-20-Life, beautiful anti-crook law
2. Castle Doctrine, another Beautiful anti-crook law which extends to your car, workplace, and anyplace you can CCW!
3. No gun permits needed to purchase, no magazine maximums, no BS-commie anti-gun laws...and you can easily get a CCW permit if your record is clean.

Well, you could.... But buying from Big 5 isn't quite what the C&R is for. They probably would look at you and say, duhhhh, what's that. It's not going to get you a discount from a retailer like that.

The C&R won't get you a reduction in fees from a brick and mortar store as far as I know. You still need to do the background check, that's federal. Now if you buy from Southern Ohio Gun, or Classic Arms, or the CMP, that's when the C&R is used. Face to face and retail outlets haven't cared about my C&R status. The benefit is getting things shipped directly to your door that others have to have shipped to a FFL holder.

Scott- when buying a C&R firearm, and transferring it from the seller to you, there IS no background check. That is the purpose of the C&R license. It is a transfer from one licensed person (them) to another licensed person (you). Trust me- been doing it since 1976. The savings in background check fees more than pays the $30/ 3 yrs for my C&R FFL.

Scott- you may very well have done one with CMP. Because they are the only people that (legally) ship to people with no FFL, they treat all customers as if they did not HAVE a FFL. BTW, found that as a retired officer of the US Army, a copy of my military ID meets ALL of the CMP requirements- proof of engaged in shooting, AND proof of citizenship (comissioned officer must be US citizen). Makes things a bit easier.

Yeah C3, that was it. I got the C&R to purchase a 1903 from them. That's why I remember I still had to do the check, it was to avoid the shooting requirement at the time.

A C&R? NO NO DON'T DO IT!

It all started when I bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 from my gunsmith. Then I applied for my C&R. Now I have TEN Mosin Nagants, 2 Lee Enfields, a Steyr M95, an SKS, a Mauser K98, a CZ 52, a CZ82, An M1895 Nagant revolver......AND I'M SAVING UP FOR A GARAND!
