M96's were made from The late 1890's through the 1920's. In 1938 the M38 was adopted, but some M96's were made from around 1940 to 1944 and were made by Husqvarna for the civilian marksmanship program. Around 18,000 were produced. Compared w/ other firearms, it is not a common rifle. It has a good deal of collectors value.

Default Gew 98 a keeper

Nice 96 swede. My brother purchased 2 of those some 20 yrs ago and sporterized them aarrgh! Closeups of 98 gew. This rifle WILL NOT be touched VERBOTTEN!
