Anyone know how long the BATF takes to process a C&R application? I sent mine in a week or so ago. I already have 3 SMLEs (my son loves them) but I want to add a M1 Carbine and M1 Garand (for starters) to my collection.

Another question, are 50+ year-old M1911As on the C&R list?

It takes up to the eight weeks the paperwork says, mine took that long. I have heard of other people getting them sooner. As for the 1911, it should be, but if it's a commercial model it may not. Check out the list you get when you receive your license.

Thanks, all, for the feedback. I guess there's not much else to do but wait for the process to take its course. Ugh. I've also got 2 CMP orders I'm waiting on. Not much fun, all this waiting...

FWIW, the license takes 2-3 months average. Your mileage may vary. Re: 1911A1's- there is the LIST from BATFE- such as all Winchester 88s, all Colt Woodsman pistols, etc, and there is AGE- all firearms where THAT GUN is 50 yrs or older. A 50 yr old Marlin 39A IS a C&R, a 49 yr old Marlin 39A is NOT. So, if you can show that YOUR 1911A1 is 50 or older, it is a C&R arm. Enjoy- the C&R FDFL is the most fun you can have for $30.

WooHoo, my C&R arrived last week! Unfortunately, my Jeep is consuming all my C&R procurement $$!

I think it took me about 8 weeks to get mine. That was a year ago. So far I've gotten a Swiss K-31 and a CZ82. Both from J&G Sales.
