How do I get my C&R?

I know this has probably been asked before but, How do I go about getting my C&R license? I heard it cost about $30 a year and I think that is well worth it cause I like to collect older guns. I also enjoy researching the history on them and learning where they've been.

The $30 is for three years. The ATF Web site has all of the info on how to apply. It isn't very difficult and the processing time at ATF is quick. Even if you never buy a gun, the discounts on ammo, reloading stuff, and other products from places like Brownell's and Midway will pay for the license many times over.

Thanx for the info, I was considering it but wasn't for sure if it would be worth it. I want a couple of guns that are classified as C&R but what I want and what I can afford right now are to different things. I didn't know that this license could get me discounts on ammo and other shooting products.

Some places will give you discounts, but not all of them will for the C&R. Midway wanted an 01 FFL when I asked them about it.

Brownell's gives me dealer pricing just based on ordering history, not because of any license I have, or don't as the case may be. I believe that is the case with others from the forum that order from Brownell's also...

Numrich (aka gunpartscorp.com) and Southern Ohio Gun deal with C&R holders. Consider this- if you buy ONE rifle that gets shipped directly without a dealer's transfer fee (here typically $30-50) you broke even.
