Correct! They were re-arsenaled in 1966. I'm w/ you though, The Soviet rifles are accurate and indistructable. I had a 1953 that I put 10,000++ rounds through. Sold it for more then I paid. That was when you could buy cases of ammo (two cans) for $39.00. I remember having a heart attack when it went up to $46.00, then $49.00.

I plan on getting both but I think I will go ahead and get the mauser first (I'm tight on money and it's cheaper).

jpattersonnh, do I need a C&R FFL to buy from that website?

You can have your FFL Fax a signed copy of his license, you pay for it and have it shipped to him. A C&R does also work.

I think they have one that is legal in California.

https://www.samcoglobal.com/1-sks.html

It's the first rifle.

It says FFL 01 dealers only (for california) so you'll have to find someone with one and see if they can order it for you.

It may be worth checking into if you really want one.

That won't be a problem.

Thanks.

Wish I had your brass issue! 8x57 is a great round. Hmm, come to think of it I need to dust off the No4MK1/3 Enfield and empty some brass to try out some new recipes for .303 Hunting loads. If you get into reloading 8x57, PM me 1st. I have about 18 years of data.

I bought a German 98k Mauser last year for 200.00 and love it! When I work the action of my Mauser I can just feel the quality that went into making it.

For $200.00 it is most likely a Soviet capture. There will be a large X stamped on the receiver. Still, some can be good shooters.
