Thanks ScottG; I knew this info, & am looking for an affiliated club in the Lafayette, La. area that is not "High School",( CMP purchase requirement). I am retired & just want to shoot occasionly, not compete, etc.
Thanks for the heads up..........."G"

No, don't misunderstand the meaning of the CMP. It's not just about high school or youth. It was instituted by TR to keep Americans ready for war.

But , don't you have to belong to a "affiliated club" to purchase rifles from the CMP ?. ( I have a new Auto Ordinance M1 Carbine, but thinking about buying a WW 2 for collectors value. The AO is a
good looking repro, havn't fired yet. )..........."G"

Yes, but that doesn't mean a "gun club" in that sense of the word. It looks like you can join the Louisiana Shooting Association for $20 a year. That would suffice. You could also join the Garand Collectors Association for $25 a year.

Pretty easy to get the associated membership, and just think of what you'll get: an authentic US Armed Forces battle rifle. It's worth $25!
