Yes, with a Service Grade you will have a great shooter, great bore. On Service Grades they may come with new commercial wood stocks instead of USGI. If you prefer one over the other you can add a note to your order asking for it.
There is no gaurantee you will get it but it doesnt hurt to ask.
If it comes with a USGI stock it will not be pristene, it will have some dings and dents but no large cracks, etc. After all it is a battle rifle
If you want to safe $100 on a Field Grade its a roll of the dice, if you want a sure thing get a Service Grade

Both sides have been heard on this subject. Perhaps it is time to put this acrimonious debate to rest.

I have always been pleased with the folks at CMP. Bought M1 and 1903 barreled receiver. No complaints. As well, ammo, tools and bayonet. Great folks.

There is an interesting article on buying from the CMP and the different grades involved. Shows results at the range with various ammo and objective analysis. Good read.

Orlando orland orlando, are you on every single forum on the net telling them all how much you know about garand,s?one mans junk is another man,s rifle,i did not see you get asked if you would trust a mail order feild grade????????Some of us do not have thick wallets and have to rebuild our own from scratch and that does not make them any less of a peice of history than any other.Or change the fact of how we love our Garand,s.
