Finally Found My Winchester '94!

I have looked at perhaps twenty or thirty '94s in my price range this week all over Arizona but this was the one. I think I did okay for $395.00, what do you guys think? Right in front of the trigger, stamped on the receiver is "EZ", not sure if that is the plant is was created at or ?? I love that the barrel is stamped, "Winchester Proof Steel", although I wish it was also stamped with ".30 WCF" instead of "Winchester .30-.30 although I am told those were the 1940s and earlier '94s that were stamped that way. Bore is sharp and mirror shiny and action seems to cycle and fire perfectly although I haven't shot it yet naturally.

1951 Winchester Model 1894 .30-.30 Winchester

Capy,

Nice find! I like the older ones. Not that it will ever be worth anything but when I heard that Winchester stopped making them a few years ago. I ran out and bought a new one. Never fired it still in the box. But your rifle is super fine! As I stated I like the older rifles much better. A friend of mine has a large winchester collection and I just drool when I get to see some of them.
One great deal at $395 for an older model. What year was it made?

Hi Sniper:

It's a 1951. I love it, very happy with the way it looks and feels.

The Pre-64 Winchester 94s are the last of the best. These rifles were all milled steel and screws were used in the linkage not roller pins. They had Winchester hammer forged barrels. Later ones were out purchased button rifled barrels. The post had plastic butt plates.:)

Great find OP. I have one that was made in the early 70's Maybe it's not one of the uber cool pre 64's but I'll still say the one I have shoots, and shoots well. Be sure to let us know how it does when you get a chance ot get it dirty.:)

A lot of people lean to the Marlin because of the ease of mounting a scope. Personally I don't see a need for a scope on a 30 30 but they can be mounted if ya want it bad enough.

I love the feel of a Winchester lever gun. I've had others and liked them . But it's just a lovin feeling thing with the Winchester.

I found this PDF that shows manufacture years form serial numbers. I figure some of y'all out there might find it handy :)

Thanks for the feedback and history guys. I am sad to say this is my first Winchester, don't know what took me so long. I have always wanted one of these but there were so many other cool guns that distracted me from finally buying one of these. For under $400.00, I couldn't pass it up. Will give a range report when I finally take it out.
