Defaulteer scope for m38?

my son has a m38 mn. he wanted to scope it w/o altering it. i got him a scout scope mount that replaced the rear sight. i also got him an NC star eer 4X scope. we have the scope as far forward as possible but it still needs to be another couple inches farther forward to get the full field in the scope. anybody have any suggestions on another inexpensive scope that would better fit this setup? thanx.

Unless someone on the forum has the same gun and a scout scope you will have to measure the distance between your eye (after establishing a comfortable cheek-weld on the stock) and the ocular lens of the scope. This information should be readily available from any reputable scope manufacturer who makes extended eye-relief scopes. NcStar is NOT one of them!

I used a Nikon eer on my M38. It worked fine, but I found out that I'm not a Scout Rifle kind of guy.

BTW, I posted it here in one of the gunsmithing sections:

Actually, by comparison NcStar scopes are actually quite good. Don't knock them until you have really tried them.

I have 2 M38 Scout rifles and on one I use a BSA pistol scope and the other a FM pistol scope.
I use the UTG scope mount which is longer than most scout mounts.
