Dang you grandpa !

So I have learned recently the Pepaw as we call him was doing what kids did back in the 40's playing in the woods found and old supposedly civil war gun by a tree with initials and all . He kept it for a while only to turn it in to the museum .
Have any of of ever heard of stories similar to this ? If so has anyone ever been able to get it back , maybe if it was on loan or outright turned over Im guessing would be the big factor

never heard of one being found in good condition like that, but you can dig up civil war stuff all over the south.

When my mom and stepdad were building their house they dug up 2 rusted out barreled actions. One looks to be a single shot, maybe a falling block of some type; the other seems to be a caplock musket. There have also been a bunch of cannon balls, belt buckles, knives and such like that dug up by my family. I dug up a scraper knife once, but of course I have no idea on dating, it was so rusted up.

Hersey from grandpa , Its what I was told , not to sure on the condition but again my other grandpa caught 300 and some cat fish in one day , well the number tended to change every time the story was told lol

When I was 5 I went for a walk with my dad through the woods behind the house
as we walked along a path I found a Steven Maynard tip-up Rifle in about 85% condition....
my guess is some kid left it there..... it came home with me and I still have it ... my first gun.

Found my first gun in an old pump house on my parents property in Washington State. It was a Daisy Red Ryder. The stock was warped and it was the only gun I ever owned that would shoot around corners. Well, sort of; the barrel (tube) was slightly bent and that put a spin on the BB, causing it to curve in flight. Darned thing was fun to shoot, cats, snakes, grasshoppers, the front picture window. The last one caused the loss of the gun for a month....I was devistated!! :D

I've got the pics of these 2 rusted out barreled actions, but I'm having trouble getting them in a format that will post.

Don't know if I can even do that much, I cant even get them saved from my email to the computer. It just comes up as code. I think I'll have to get them sent to me again in a different format. IDK, I'll keep working on it. They're completely worthless of course, but cool to look at.

gonna try and see if these pics will load. Two rusted out barreled actions found when digging the foundation of my Mom's house, by my Stepdad. Completely worthless, but really cool.

If anyone has any guesses what they may be, throw it out there. All we can figure is one is a musket/muzzleloader type, and the other may be a falling block action.
