Can anyone identify this spotting on the rifling? I've run a .45 wire brush through it many times to no avail

Hard to tell from the pic...what color is it? What color comes out on a patch with Hoppes?

did that come out a dirty orange-ish color? Could just be Cosmoline. Take out the barrel fill it with Mineral Spirits and let it soak then flush with hot water...repeat until you get it shined up. Might also want to try one of the foaming bore cleaners, same drill plug the barrel, fill it up and let it soak. I wouldn't force a .45 cal brush down there, try a .30 cal, you're just folding the bristles over and losing any cleaning ability with too large a brush.

That is pitting caused by corresive primers. I would use J-B Bore Cleaner to polish the bore. The pits will remain but you can smooth it out. Most of the Milsurp 7.62X25 ammo has corrosive primers.

I know it's not cosmoline, th lighting made it look kinda orange, but it came out a brownish color. But I'll try the .30 when I get home. Thanks
