Curious about a gun I have
I have a RockIsland Arsenal Model 1903 but i really cant figure out what all has been done to it (besides blueing and a really shiny clear coat on the stock) Im also currious about the type of ammo my grandfather gave me to go with it. He says armor pircing but not 100% sure.
Also that particular shell says L C 6 9 around the primer but i have several ranging from the 40s to this one

It looks like a 1903 that has been restocked and modified. The ammo appears (to me) to be standard military issue (30-06). Google the "springfield 1903" and compare the serial number to the warnings. Some 1903's with a serial number that falls within a certain range should be checked out by a gunsmith. There is a question about the tempering of the metal.
Oh, and please stop by the "Introductions" section and let us know a little about you.

Why would you think that??
You have a RI 1903 that was sporterized, while it may be a good shooter it has no collector value.
Armor piercing ammo has black painted tips. The ammo you pictured is not AP
Any USGI ammo that has a headstamp before 1953 should be considered corrosive

It's a sporterized 1903. Probably done sometime in the 50's judging
by the style. Value in my area $225-$350. Looks like a fairly nice stock,
has some figure to it. Personally I like a softer finish, but some like the high
gloss.

Restocked and rebarreled. The stock is an H&R stock. I have one from an an H&R Ultra 300 on my 98 Mauser.

Good!
Rock Island below #286,506 received a single heat treatment (vs. dual) and are considered "unsafe" to fire.

The numbers on the cases indicate manufacturer and date of manufacture. LC 69 indicates Lake City 1969. It should be excellent and accurate ammunition.
