Default Colt New Service .455 WWI British Contract Webley Pistol

Here are photos of my Colt New Service .455 Webley pistol which was 1 of 500 shipped to the London Armoury Company on December 26, 1916. It has a very interesting service history since it has British and Canadian Army acceptance, proof and property marks and AEF acceptance cartouche on the grip and stamp on the bottom of back strap. Still shoots flawlessly after almost 100 years!

That is a very nice Colt. Do you have any history about it? Such as was it used in combat? Issued to a officer? How did you come by it? Yes I know a lot of questions but I just like old guns. There history is what makes them so interesting.

Hi Ishooter. Judging by the shipment date to UK; various proofs and cartouches and condition it sure looks like a WWI warhorse that was used in combat. Unfortunately I don't have any onfo on any officers who might have been issued this pistol since there are no specific unit desigations on the pistol. I got the pistol on either Gunbroker or Auction Arms.
