Anyone Watch Pawn Stars??

I love that show. There is so much history and cool stuff to learn. I feel like I am entertained AND getting valuable information at the same time.

Aside from the Pawn Stars' drinking game,, the hands down best part of the show for me is when Rick calls in "My Buddy Sean" to look at arms and armor.

The guy has some serious knowledge and seems to REALLY know his stuff.

Now, awhile back, I posted a thread about matching a pistol to a rifle my grandfather left me, and I was watchinig Pawn Stars last night and got to thinking, I wonder if Sean would be interested in helping?

So, on a whim last night I looked up his site, Tortuga Trading & sent him an e-mail last night explaining the situation. Long shot in my mind, as I am sure he makes money for his appearances on Pawn Stars and he may not even be answering his own mail.

First thing this morning I got a nice e-mail back from Sean stating that he was very interested in seeing my rifle and helping me match a pistol to it.

More to follow, but I thought I would share as I thought it was pretty cool.

I LOVE that show, especially the old man.

Cool story...is that the 1873 you are referring to? I watch Pawn Stars all the time but only to see how badly Rick tries to lowball everybody...:D

Got a one of a kind, signed original copy of the Constitution...I'll give you $25 bucks for it...it's a specialty item and hell with a bad economy and all it will be hard to sell. I have a buddy who's an expect in this stuff let me get him over here to take a look at it...:p

I watch it all the time, he reminds me of me. I've always wondered if he has these "experts" on retainer as they are on nearly every episode. I also watched the new show they started this week about Rick's Restorations - that guy is amazing...

That's the one Jpyle. I am going to send him a bunch of photos and he is going to give me a run down of exactly what I have, then match me a pistol to go with it. I'll post what I get back from here him.

As for Rick I definitely agree. Sometimes I am like "You dick!" and then I see someone come in like the lady with the ugly ass Faberge' Spider pin and she wants to get like $800 and he tells her the truth and offers her $15K cash on the spot, so it goes both ways.

I love the show though. Can't get enough of it, but I can do without Chum and the Old Man. The dad has a ton of knowledge, but he really is a condescending prick at times. :(

I went there on a trip to Vegas about six months ago. It was cool. They had a velvet rope outside to corral fans and let them into the store a few at a time. Yeah, I am that kind of loser that actually went to the shop:D

Let us know how this plays out. I am really curious to see how much help he can be and what he comes up with for you.

Cool story JD. It will be interesting to hear the response you get from Sean.

Here is the e-mail string thus far:

I understand you run a business and would be happy to discuss a consulting fee and perhaps you know of the perfect pistol and where it can be had.

Is this something that would interest you? I can send pictures of the rifle.

Thank you,

I think they are thieves but the stuff people bring in is interesting.

"Its worth $1000"
"ha it will sit in my store for months ill give you $100" Im sure he makes 5x the money off it.
Then shows a clip of him saying how much he wants it in his store.
