You can modify C&R rifles bought with your C&R license.
It's just no longer C&R.
You can then sell said rifle but not as a C&R.
Having a C&R doesn't tie your hands. __________________ KGB

I can vouch for that comment. See post #11 at http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f...91/index2.html __________________ By God, you may find me dead in a ditch someday, but I'll be on top of a pile of brass when you do.

I paid $99 for mine this last January (1929 hex receiver) and I just received my battle pack of Russian 147gr. FMJ Silvertip ammo. I shot it today at 100 yds. and even though I was barely able to see the target, I managed to put 10 rds. into a respectable sized group for an 80 yr old rifle shot by 52 year old eyes! 7 of the 10 rds. went into an area measuring 2 x 2.5". The target is a photocopied section of a standard sight-in target, and each square was reduced from 1" to 3/4", so the overall size of the target is 3" square. I'm not kidding when I say I could barely see the target. I also managed to perforate a 14" dia. oak tree at 100yds.. Holding a magnet to the bullet head revealed the reason...it's steel core ammo. There's no hiding from this baby! __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

Nice grouping!
That's proof that a Mosin can make a great hunting rifle or all around zombie defense tool. __________________ "TRAIN WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, NOT WITH WHAT YOU WISH YOU HAVE." |

LOL - Thanks Sgt. WIthout a doubt it will be in the hunting woods this coming season and it just may become my long range ZDT (Zombie Defense Tool). Now I see why the scope-equipped "Sniper" versions are selling for $499. With a scope this sucker would probably be as accurate as my LR308. __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

RL357:
My MN 44 shoots HB Bulgarian bullets easily through both sides of a really large steel oxygen cylinder.
It would probably go through a gang banger's (post-disaster "social disruptions") car door and keep on going. |

I have a friend who owns a junk yard - I'd like to take my91/30 there for some ballistics testing.. __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

That's one HELL of a grouping from an 80 year old rifle using 52 year old eyes. Can I borrow yours? My 59 year old eyes don't work too well at 100 yards even with my new glasses. __________________ By God, you may find me dead in a ditch someday, but I'll be on top of a pile of brass when you do.

Believe me when I say I feel your pain...I can't even use glasses because my distance vision is still very good, I just can't focus on the sights anymore. Peeps and scopes are all I can use. Thankfully the front post on a 91/30 is fairly thin and a mile away, which makes it easier to focus on, but shooting a small target like the one I used is more luck than skill, since all I could distinguish was the white square of the target. It's a testament to the consistency & accuracy of the rifle. __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians
