Default 91/30 laminate vs. regular stock

So picked up another mosin today! This is my first 91/30, and they had both the regular stocks and then the laminate stocks. the regular stocked rifles were like 60 bucks cheaper so thats what I went with. My question what is the difference really? And why were some laminated and others not?

Laminated is later. Less expensive to make. Stronger. Rifles that went back for full arsenal reuild, had bad stocks, got new lam stock.
