Default 1984

I was recently given a winchester 1894. the serial number is under 1,000. It is in poor shape though. the tang has been broken and brazed back together. the stock has also seen better days. I also received a merwin & hulbert early model without the top strap and has the original ivory grips. the nickel is gone and the action is in poor shape.

I was wondering if these two guns where worth restoring or if it is even possible. I am not concerned with cosmetics but i would like to be able to shoot them.

We'd like to help, but...

you could have asked me if I had pics, you did not need to be rude and tell me my thread was useless. This was my first post here and my last. I will find another site to seek help.

I apologize if you mistook my post for rudeness, it was intended to be humorous. You also might consider losing some of your sensitivity. This is a gun board, not a Knitting Forum.

Apparently he was not very savy on the internet or gun forums. Posting that "this thread is useless with out pictures" is very common and is generally done in jest. For someone to get that PO'd over a silly picture may mean they will not be a productive member anyway. I find it unfortunate he is going away mad.

It was never my intention to drive away a new member. However, in this case it wouldn't appear to be much of a loss.

I enjoy this place and want to see it prosper, so I do my best to do my part. Apparently this gent was a bit overly sensitive.

It's too bad. I would have liked to see a picture of that Merwin Hulbert.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Ok so I overreacted, sorry for that. It was my first time posting in any forum ever. Just not what i was expecting. I was dealing with my now ex wife (as of today) all day yesterday so i wasn't in the best of moods. Again I am sorry. The good news is now I expand my gun collection.

No worries - The guys here love to talk guns, and they are willing to help with just about any issue, so if you have questions, please ask. However, anytime you can include pictures about what you are talking about, it will be better for the guys to be able to respond with the information you are seeking.

With a little time you will find that these guys are some of the friendliest, most knowledgable around.
