Default 1915 Gewehr 98 (Spandau)

I recently inherited this Gewehr 98 from my grandfather. This rifle was hung up in his basemenf for years. The story goes that he recieved the rifle and a WW1 German Steel helmet as payment for some carpentry work he did for a neighbour nearby. He was a big military history buff so I'm sure he was more than satisfied.

It is a numbers matching rifle however it does have a diagonal duffle cut just before the rear barrel band. Somebody did a nice job with the saw cut though, it looks quite good. I intend on displaying just like my grandfather did.
