Looks like you put a ton of work into that rifle, well done. A 1903 is on my list, but they seem to be getting a expensive. Keep us informed on your progress.

I paid $350 for a sporterized one and all I need is a hand guard to turn it back to its original specs. I have about $650 in it.

Looking good so far. I have my grandfather's old 1903 Mark 1 which he picked up and sporterized in the early '50s. Shoots great, but I wish he had left it intact. It is basically a $250 deer rifle now, instead of a collector's piece. Maybe I'll get bored at some point, and start odering the parts to put it back to original condition. For now, I'll keep using it the way it sits. I miss him now that he is gone, and I think the best way to remember him is to take it out and hopefully get the first buck of the season with it this year. R.I.P. Poppa Bear.

Some of the old army outfits had 2 stocks for their 03's. A working stock and a parade stock which was kept pristine and shined. They used boiled linseed oil on the stocks.
