Here's the 10/22 I'm building. All I'm waiting for at this point is for my barrel to come in. This this is gonna be super light compared to my AR platforms and Remmy 700.

Hell, I'm not military and I know that!

Its looking good Tex. Hey guys on the military thing. I have 3 kids from this Neighborhood that have joined the Navy. This is their second enlistment and only one of them has shot an ar15. And it wasn't a full magazine. The other two shot a pistol but couldn't remember what kind they shot. I guess beside the Army and Marines they don't get to or have to qualify with a weapon unless they are in a certain position. These kids around here are all into the computer aspects of the Navy. They hardly even go out on the water. Just blows my mind that they don't get basic training with an ar15.

Navy trains with the M9 pistol. He's National Guard, which calls under the Army. He should be familiar with the M16. I work with some Guardsmen right now. They all qualify on it.

Hello,
I am a veteran like yourself. Although I was not in at a war time. I was in just after the Vietnam war just ended. I signed up in October 1975 and served in the U S Air Force until 1981.
I am curious how you are building your 10/22. I have wanted to build one for years but, I can not find the parts. Are you building it from parts (from scratch) I want to build mine as in getting a receiver first then stock of choice and so on buying each part, bolt and screw and put the entire rifle from every part that I want to what say Ruger has. I don't want to buy a 10/22 rifle and change it, I want to build it one piece at a time.
Is this what you are doing? If this is how you built this rifle, can you direct where I can get like a receiver, bolt and that section so I can start there and then build out from there? If you can help me, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks
Brian K

5.56 is basically a fast .22, I prefer a larger round like the 7.62x39 for close to medium range

How many things have you shot with 556? I've not seen any .22LR ammo that makes a hole like 556 does.
