I have read this post several times and believe pm-ing may still be in order. I saw my parts today and filled out the paperwork. I can take possession march 10th. Hopefully I will have my room completed.

Big Blue, I've had really good results with the E.R.Shaw barrels, and would purchase them again.
If your wanting to go from a 7mm Magnum to a 270,you have two choices on that type of swap. The bolt head will be different for each type of caliber.
You can take your bolt apart, and swap out the bolt heads, and maybe need to change the firing pin also. Or,just buy another complete bolt with the correct bolt head for a 270 Winchester, and just swap out the barrel and bolt assembly whenever you want to change the caliber's.

Thanks for letting me know about the barrels, I'll be ordering the kit from Midway once my state refund comes in.
yes it would. both the 270 and the 30-06 are in the same case family. so if you bought a Savage in 270, you could buy an extra barrel for it in 30-06 and essentially have two rifles.
