Sten mk2 build

I have seen do it your self receivers for the sten mk2 where there is a template on the receiver blank that you cut into a fully functional receiver is this legal without any permits?

Welcome to FTF, have you checked out the introductions yet?

To answer your question, yes it is legal to make your own gun, but it can't be full auto and as a rifle it can't have a barrel less than 16 inches

so is this semi auto?

and what would i have to do to be in 922r compliance?
thnx

FullautoUSA 03-22-2013 03:56 AM

It is semi I would assume, and it does not have to undergo 922 because it does not have a pistol grip therefore it is not considered an "assault weapon"

k thank you

lizardfire11 03-22-2013 10:22 PM

will the standard parts that come with the build kit fit a semi auto receiver?

FullautoUSA 03-23-2013 12:37 AM

If they come in the same kit then there is a 99.99999% chance they will fit.

922R applies to an IMPORTED firearm. If you are building your own, that is not an imported firearm. Be advised you are going to need a lot more pieces parts than just a receiver-
