A steel target for less

This simple rig saved me some money. Tbe perforated steel target is hung on a bird feeder stake. The stake was a few bucks at the hardware store. No frame or chains needed. The stake is steel also.

I have targets made of 1/2" mild steel. They are OK for rimfire rifles and handguns. I shot one with my 91/30. The 203 gr SP passed through the spinning target so quickly that it didn't wiggle. I thought I had missed the target.

Buy a couple extra stakes. Eventually you will hit it and depending on caliber it may not take the hit.
I saw a guy hit one with a 44 and the stake bent right over from the weight of the plate. It was pretty funny to watch but he wasn't happy.

I think Hickok45 takes this approach and it works well for him!

What about a piece of Rebar(thin) banged into soft earth/sand? Looking to go cheaper then the few outdoor targets I have now...I can have one welded for me,..but I want the stake to hold up, at least to Centerfire handgun rounds...
