What do you get from modding the bolt?

Shame you cut up that front sight and bayonet lug. They are very hard to find right now and selling for close to $100. There is a guy making replacement(bolt on) front sights for the SKS for $45.

I did the same thing, cut off my bayonet lug. Then when I wanted to return to stock.. I couldn't find one anywhere.

You can attach and detach the mag without having to lock the bolt back first.

But does not bolt not lock back at all after this mod? I would like the idea of being able to load a mag without opening the bolt, but also like the idea of the last shot hold open.

the bolt will stay in the open position when the mag cycles the last round with the mod I showed as well
as far as going back to the original type 56 configuration that is not even a consideration for me, i am personalizing it for me because being a gift from my step Father it will never be sold.
45 dollars plus shipping is a bit expensive for A sight block i can make my self just as I would not pay 80 bucks for a mag adapter when I have the tools and knowledge to build it in my shop.

Yes, looking at his drawing, it is also a good way to do the mod. I have seen where others have worked the entire bottom of the bolt into a 45 degree angle. That I would not recommend.
I just prefer my version because it removes less material. In my view if it doesn't need to come off, why take it off?
In honesty his is probably a bit easier to do.
(nice setup man)

what do you mean
if you mean the bolt locking in the open position when the last round is fired you want that to happen that way you can load a full mag and cycle the next round quicker.
