Default Scope Mounting Problem

I have an older (70's ish) Savage 110 in .270 with the long action. It was passed down in the family and never had a scope mounted. I've looked at the weaver's (I believe it is) reverse scope rings which point inward towards the action but can only mount a scope that has an extra long neck such as a 6-18 power scope. None of the 3-9 or 4-12 scopes will fit. I was considering just mounting up a picanty rail and then mount any scope i choose. Would that cause any loading or ejecting problems?

It can be a problem when trying to mount short tube scopes on long actions using a 2pc mount.

I run Weaver/Picatinny 1pc rails on all of my rifles. They don't cause any loading or ejecting problems.
Your rifle should have the old flat rear/round front action.
This should work on your rifle-

Thanks! That's looks to be exactly what I need. I went to cabela's today to get a scope for different gun and took the .270 and they had nothing that would work. I'll order one of these and be good to go!
