Default Refinishing

here's some of my 91/30, and my 65-2. I stripped the finish and stained the rifle colonial walnut (I'm not a hardcore purist, may do a bit to accurize it but the form WILL stay the same) And as you can see, I'm trying to make my own grips here. A piece of poplar, dirty right now, about 75% of the way done, with a fresh piece of poplar to show the contrast. I INTEND for it to be about the same shape/design as Jerry Miculek's and mount it with the stirrup device that Hogue uses.

Also thinking about bobbing the hammer, smooth and radius the trigger, and flame blue those and the screws. Any thoughts on flame bluing the hammer? I'm worried about messing with the temper of it.
