It's nothing new, but I didn't see a thread on this yet so I figured id start one. I recently did the color fill on my m&p shield and it came out so good, I did my G19 and my AR lower too. Just thought id post some pics! I went with the nail polish technique because it was readily available (my wife didn't care for it to much though) and because I felt it would outlast a crayon. ENJOY!

Nice. Haven't seen that technique before. Creative idea for sure.

How long does it last? When shooting and the gun gets hot will fade or burn? I want to do it but shouldn't it be duracoat?

I also used nail polish to color fill my G20 and my AR Pistol. It was really simple and took no more than 15 minutes.

I did the same thing some time ago with my Ruger LCP with red nail polish.

Here is a very good article with a video that gives step by step details. As far as of the polish will burn or fade with shooting, I'm not sure, as I just did this a few days ago. I haven't read anything to that effect so far from other people who have done it. I feel that if it did, all you would have to do is remove what is done as repeat the process.

You can also use paint pens that are available at WalMart and other stores. The pens come in different colors and will last longer than the nail polish. If you use the paint pens you need to use graffiti remover.

Remember when the Taurus PT 1911 came out and it had the white lettering and everyone said how gawdy it was. WTF?
