Default Pistol Target Tree

Any one made a home-made pistol target tree? I have a lot of scrap 1/4" steel plate left over from a metal working project I had at work. Also, would 1/4" steel hold up to 45acp fire at 7yds?

I have made pendulum style out of 1/2 and it holds up to 5.56. The .270wsm put a mark on it. I probably would go thicker 3/8 for the strike plate and I think the mass would keep it from really whipping around.

It would work well for rimfire but for the energy expended by the .45 ACP I'm afraid it would whip around too much and probably go away quick.

Ricochet? Certainly eye protection.

Ya careful with the ricochet most metal targets you buy say at least 10yrds. and if fixed try to angle it down, that way if it does ricochet it goes towards the ground

This or similar design would be a pretty easy build.

I used a piece of 1/4" cold roll for a teeter target, it stops everything from 22 short to 357 mag, oddly enough 17HMR leaves craters in it. I made a torso target out of the same stuff and I've shot 7.62X54R FMJ, 30-30 soft point, and 7mm mag soft point and they just blow right through it and I was shooting at about 200 yards.
