I have a Savage 110 (my $10 gun, that was the entry fee in the big buck contest I won the rifle in) with the black composite stock - shoots great, but kinda ugly - and I was wondering if it would hurt the accuracy any to put a wood thumbhole stock on it? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know it would look better. The metal has the black matte finish also.

It wouldn't hurt the accuracy as long as the bedding is good BUT a thumbhole stock would make the tang safety harder to get to & operate. Why not upgrade to a better walnut stock instead of the thumbhole? I agree that properly designed thumbhole stocks are a delight to use, just that it would clash with the speed of operation of the tang safety.

I didn't think of the safety angle. I guess a thumbhole for this one is out, then.
