Nail Polish Gun Detailing... Spontaneous Combustion?

Hey guys,

I painted my Walther P99 and mags today with some green and pink nail polish. I think it looks pretty sweet, but I'm wondering if it's gonna create a problem when I go to shoot it. I'm pretty sure nail polish is not supposed to be around excessive heat or flame. I only shoot about 50-100 rounds from this gun each trip to the range. Do you think the heating up of the barrel or the friction of the slide on the frame will cause the polish to melt or catch fire / explode?

Attached some pics for reference to my question and for those who just enjoy gun porn ;-)

Thanks for your input!

Shouldn't have a problem as long as it's dry.

put a clear coating of something over the paint be careful with solvents and you shouldnt have any problems. i sue nail polish on a lot of mine to highlight numbers and dots on sights. ive never had anything shoot loose.

long as you cleaned the metal of oil and grease and dirt it shouldnt come off just shooting it.

nice job btw

I had a friend do the same thing and his came off the next time he cleaned his gun. If that wouldn't have happened I would consider doing it to one of my guns too.

Your fine. Don't scrub it when you clean your gun and it should last awhile. If it randomly caught on fire you would of heard about it by now

I'm going to be this guy but how did you do that?

I have to agree that there should not be a problem with fire.

I've yet to see a female smoker's fingers ignite.
