How about a side feed like the M240? With a bottom ejection that would be different.

With a bull pup that side mag would probably be in your ribs, or your arm would press down on it and twist the gun as you shoot. Depending on right or left handed orientation.
If the mag port was in front of the bolt face it could strip rounds rearward out of the mag like the saw does out of a belt. Pulling a round out of the mag would happen simultaneously with extracting the spent cartridge, eject spent down and out, then kick the fresh round to the bolt face. Then chamber it.
I still think that a side mag would be a difficult thing to work around with gear on ( vest and pouches can be bulky and cumbersome as it is), at least in a bullpup configuration.
Oh, and semper fidelis to you both, and good luck in boot camp.

Again, I am cautioning you this is not legal unless you have the proper licensing. I'm sorry to be "a drag", but here on FTF we play by the rules. We don't want to be known for any illegal activity and as a Mod, it is my job to keep this place on the straight and narrow.

you do know that a military armorer doesnt build guns right?? they dont build guns anymore than the jiffy lube oil change guy builds cars...
think of em kinda like the mechanic at the local car dealer service dept.
some of the very top level guys build up and accurize certain guns for military competitions but they are not easy jobs to land you need to be a very talented armorer.
the military itself doesnt create new designs.
