The next area requiring attention is the barrel.

This barrel was rusting but only surface and no real pitting.

This is before ^

And this is mid-way ^

This is the only other identification ^ on the gun. Does anyone know what the GK hand stamp is? Can someone tell me where the serial number is located? I'm assuming without one my gun is pre S/Ns.

The Revelation model 120 was manufactured for Western Auto Supply. It is nearly identical to the first variant of the model 60, but also looks like a model 99. The Revelation 120 has a different front sight (a brass dot as opposed to the model 60's hooded front sight) and the barrel is stamped WESTERN AUTO SUPPLY CO.

Many Revelation 120s were manufactured and sold without serial numbers. In 1968, the use of serial numbers on firearms was made mandatory.

Next, the birch stock re-finish.

I don't have that problem, generally the women find me both handsome AND hand-y.

Default 'derTangoplunkungun' Project total: $ 31.83

Update on the 'derTangoplunkungun':

I'm getin' heat over on Bobbyb13's 'Dent in stock' thread for my bondo repair. Guess no one is reading this thread.

1wa5.jpg

Here's the before crack: ^

1sr4.jpg

The screw & glue it: ^

And the cover up: ^

Glue $ 4.95 and sandpaper $ 6.89.

I'll finish it up tomorrow.

Here's a new one for me. I always liked jeweled bolts and auto pistol chambers. I went out and and got me a 1/4" Damaskeening Tool. It's used for decorative polishing of metal with circular polishing swirls. A process also called spot polishing, engine turning or jeweling. Midway $ 19.99 MidwayUSA - Menck Bolt Jeweling Tool 1/4"

11bolt1.jpg

^ I started by polishing the bolt with sand paper and stopped with 320 grit. Here it is with the Damaskeening Tool and a file which is used to dress the tool when required.

11bolt2.jpg

^ The tool in the drill press and the bolt in a two axis vise.

11bolt3.jpg

^ The finished product.

Not a $150 gunsmith worthy job but one I'm proud to say "I did it!!" Gota start somewhere.

Believe it or not I also have a Western Auto, Revelation 22. I have the model 100 single shot Bolt action. I was 12 when I got it used, and hadn’t fired it for more than 28 years. I pulled her out, cleaned her up and gave her a try last weekend in the mountains. She still shoots great. Mine is in great shape as I redid the stocks finish with 8 coats of Varathane 30 years ago, and the California weather is easy on the metal. So she’s my entry in the Tango shoot-out. And I have no problem with the frigid January weather here in So. Cal.

BTW the target was 10 rounds, shot from 25 yards, sitting on the ground. I didn’t have a bench or rest.

I'm also going to need to Re-sight the scope.

Got your back bro!

You going to shoot just the scope class or are you going for both? (iron sights)
