Default Mounting optics on a M1 Garand

My friend has an M1 from ww2 that he would like to have a long range scope mounted on. Are there kits for this or is it even something I should attempt?

Why on earth would you put a scope on a m1. It's the best price of history from wwII

why not put a scope on it?
the mounts I linked to does not alter the gun by having to drill and tap the receiver and can be removed.
most Garands are still shooters so no reason not to use a scope IMO
