Thanks guys - It's been a long road on this build. I started with the idea of building a 1,000 yard capable rifle with the power to put a "man sized target" on the ground.

In some circles, this is the dreaded "S Word" Rifle - or a Custom Tactical.

I wanted zero compromises when I started, and that was over 5 years ago! That was the name of the project, "Zero Compromises".

That ended after about the first year of trying to find a balance between custom ammo, available ammo, custom action, action with legs that would allow modifications or upgrades later and about two or three dozen other things that went into 100's of discussions.

For everyone that thinks buying a rifle off the shelf is fun, I would urge you to take part in building one, from the ground up, researching and chosing components, ordering them as $$ allows and getting yourself one that has your DNA built into it.

I have purchased some ammo. I have another project that was on the back burner and has recently got a little hotter. When I get it finished, I plan on taking a nice sunny day off, finding some free shooting land where i can be alone with nature and putting both sticks through their paces.

There will be more to follow.

Anyone interested in piecing together your own rifle, and not knowing where to start, can always PM me with questions or ideas. I love building rifles.

I am already spec'ing out my 2011 Long Gun project.

JD

JD how did you set up the head space? Did you set it to headspace off the belt or off the shoulder?
