So, JD, how far off is that first range report do you think? A month?

I got to find ammo. I am ordering dies to be able to reload, but that is a ways off.

The break in trip is going to be clay shooting at 550 yards ( which is about MOA at that range ) - so I will post about that success or failure when it occurs.

With the weather here in the PNW, I can see April, even into May, before I can get a real good, clear range day that will allow me to really shoot the weapon to target and have something significant to show.

I will be shooting it more than that, and if I get some good targets in the meantime, I will post them all as I fine tune.

Like the build, this is going to be a work in progress for some time before I am ready to say TAH-DAH!! This is what it can really do.

Very nice.
If you can get your hands on some 180grain berger VLD's it might be worth your while to give them a try also.
7mag is a great choice IMO, and once your throat starts to wear many 1000's of rounds from now, You could do a quick & inexpensive reaming of the chamber to 7mm STW and get a few 1000 more on the cheap before you would have to set back or rebarrel.
I also think you will be very satisfied with the Vx-III.
Looking forward to the range report. Awesome rifle, very well done sir

Mjolnir is Now Complete!! - DIY Projects

I might be bringing a stripped billet lower and a parts kit. Can pay in beer for assistance.

Also, FTF get together in the PNW?

Make it a good bottle of Vodka and you have a deal.

We will build you a top notch lower.

Then we will go shooting and I will show you a couple of neat tricks about the AR that were taught to me.

Sounds perfect, Grey Goose work for you?

I might also need to bring out a girl that might or might not be crazy about me and never shot before to introduce her to the wonderful world of guns.

...Also, bringing

That will work. Household 6 can take her shopping at some of her favorite places if she isn't into the world of weaponry.
