Im not certain I understand the request. Can you explain so as to make it more clear to me? Are you wanting to layer in a recoil pad typr material to the homemade micarta I describe?

Yes, basically a rubber pad to help absorb the recoil. I think with the cloth and resin combination, there is little recoil absorption going on there. what I have is an old Charles Daley 20 O/U for the wife which has a thin hard butt plate; l'd like to soften it up for her. I did buy a close fit but it don't match the wood exactly.

Rubber recoil pads are made oversize and meant to be ground down to fit the stock.

But then again, if a person set their mind against it, it probably won't work.
