Me too! I'm in the same boat. Can't wait to see how it comes out!

Well, it's rainy and cold here, so I'll probably work on it this weekend.
I've got to figure out what to use between the layers on the laced edge to prevent the blade from cutting the lacing. The leather is about .25" thick and I think it will be too thick if I sandwich a piece in there. It could make it too loose to retain the blade by friction alone.
I found a Tandy store not too far from here, so I'll probably head over there later today and ask some questions.

Check out their copper rivets. They look good and will protect the stitching.

Taper the welt to a triangular cross section on your belt sander. I detest the idea of my blade riding on metal rivets. And copper doesn't always match my purse, shoes, and lipstick.

Have you considered using a hard plastic (moldable in hot water like the type the orthopedics uses) at the mouth of the sheath?

I have to keep it very simple.
It's a good thing I went to Tandy. I had the wrong lacing and I wanted larger needles. On the positive side, my ideas are good and I'm ready to go.

Okay, but my camera skills are ugly. I'm going to start it this afternoon and will start a thread for it.
