Well that's a good way to get yourself killed...playing Russian roulette with your carry weapon. The last thing I want is to wait until my carry gun malfunctions before I clean it.

I just use marvel mystery oil for cleaning and lube, though I am looking to make some synthetic 1911 lube as per a recipe that was shared.

My 3 .22RF's and my son's Stirling .22magnum get cleaned every now and then but more so if I've been in places where it's been very dusty. My BRNO .22 is a real bitch after I clean it as it needs about 4-5 shots to settle down and group properly again.

My F-I-L's Lithgow .22 single shot gets cleaned probably every 2nd to 3rd outing at the range. For some reason they just don't like being cleaned bore wise.
I do use WD40 on the barrels and actions and wipe them down after use though no matter what to prevent surface rust.

My .303,.270,30/06AI,.222REM,Ruger M77 22/250AI and my son's .30/30 Rossi and .Stevens .223 get scrubbed out after use and put away.
I use Sweets solvent to scrub them out and leave it in the bore for about 10 minutes before patching out.

It's not as good as some others. Lots of members recommend Mobile 1. I use a tiny amount of SLP2000. I clean with brake cleaner, then lube. 'Course, I am a lazy SOB. My weapons work just fine.

I've heard that carb cleaner works well to clean, too. Anybody have experience with both, can tell us if they work equally well, or not?
