Default First Project Gun

One of our new members, atrbertothy, has been extremely kind in sending me a 10/22 barrel to play with. I've looked over my State's law 3 times now and see nothing prohibiting the manufacture of your own rifle, so as long as I stay within the bounds of the federal law I should good. My question is, once this rifle is complete, can I move it to any other state if I move one day.

The other thing is, I think I've got a simple enough design so long as I get the right starting materials. However, I'd like to take advantage of the extractor groove, but I'm not sure how to do this without using a spring. Ideas are welcome.

Most extractors use a spring. Why can't you?

I don't have a way to do it. And I'm trying to buy as few materials as possible.

I think all ejectors use a spring or are springlike but not extractors?

You fail to say what action you are going to build. On a blow-back, I suppose you could get by with no extractor.
