Very, very impressive. Incredible detail. I need to start re-learning SolidWorks for a design project I have coming up. So you machined a 1911 slide out of solid stock using conventional machine tools? How long did that take? What do you do for a living (if you don't mind my asking)?

Great job, now can you do one with the 80 series fp safety?
How about the 3" recoil assembly?
No rest for the weary!

Really, nice work!

Hey is there anyway someone could send me a file of SolidWorks so I can download it or maybe tell me a website I can go to to get it?
I really want the program but can't find it anywhere.
Thanks.

SolidWorks 3D-CAD-Konstruktionssoftware

But I guess this is a German software!
Not sure weather there is an English version!?

To the OP, well done

Old post, I understand but this was never addressed.

That info is wrong. You absolutely can do home builds.
Here is a cut and past as well as a link

A. GENERAL QUESTIONS

(A6) Does the GCA prohibit anyone from making a handgun, shotgun or rifle? [Back]

With certain exceptions a firearm may be made by a non-licensee provided it is not for sale and the maker is not prohibited from possessing firearms. However, a person is prohibited from assembling a non-sporting semi-automatic rifle or non-sporting shotgun from imported parts. In addition, the making of an NFA firearm requires a tax payment and approval by ATF. An application to make a machine gun will not be approved unless documentation is submitted showing that the firearm is being made for a Federal or State agency.
