Cheap barrel wanted!
I was looking for a barrel to do my first build around. The cheaper the better, .22 is preferred. I guess I'm looking for a barrel thats been sitting in a box (or in a gun!) unused for ever. Rust is no object unless we're talking a high-pressure cartridge.

There are many used barrels on Ebay.

Yeah, but they're looking for profit. I'm looking for something a bit more charitable. :D

After some consideration though, I think I might just make a black powder muzzle loader shotgun out of some Schedule 80 (or better) pipe. Keeps the design simple and the pressures several thousand PSI under the rated burst pressure. A notch in the back for a shotgun primer and incorporate a trigger group I already own. It would work just like any percussion cap firearm.

My only concern might be that the primer might not work as intended. In that case, I'd just revert to a single shot contained cartridge design or perhaps come up with some alternative to solve the problem. I just think the muzzle loading design gives it more of an air of legitimacy since you don't have to remove parts to use it, even if the contained cartridge would be easier to use overall.

Still accepting extremely low cost offers!

There are barrels for less than $20 with shipping on Ebay.
Seamless tubing might work for a barrel but I would just find a junk shotgun locally and use that barrel. Do you plan to thread it and make a breech plug to match?

I was hoping to use a flash hole.

Check out anyone who does work on 10/22's.

Clark's Custom Guns used to have many barrels that were swapped out.
