sheetrock is fire resistant to some degree, but i know from pasr experiance of having built a paint booth and had to order special 5/8" fire rated sheetrock, because no one in our town stocked it. according to the city fire marshall to get a paint booth certified for use within the city limits, i could use steel, concrete, concrete blocks, brick or fire rated sheetrock at least 1/2" thick, two layers of sheetrock, 2" air space, then two more layers of sheetrock. i used 4 layers of 5/8" with a 2" air space. i used sheetrock because it was the easiest material and the cheapest to build with.
