I have a live round that was given to me from a friend that I want to make safe and drop the powder from. Honestly holding the round and trying to wiggle the projectile free makes me a little nervous...any ideas? I know i'll have to make the primer safe after dropping the powder and before reinstalling the projectile but first and foremost I need to figure out a safe way to get the projectile safely out and keep all my fingers intact. Any info is greatly appreciated |

The best way to make a 50 Cal. safe is to fire it in a Barrett Rifle. The rifles sell for $10,000 dollars but they are very safe. |

They're quite a bit less than that. And armalite has one for around $2500 I think. __________________ LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!! |

Take it to a gun show in your area & trade it for a inert (safe) .50cal round.
Or put it on the shelf & buy a inert round to play with they only cost a few bucks.
A bullet puller for a .50 will cost much more than that. |

You can take a pair of needle nose pliers and wiggle it out. I have done this to literally hundreds of rounds. It's Steel against brass, no biggie, no spark. And don't worry bout the primer, unless your planning on throwing it off a building or hitting it with a hammer it won't do anything. |

You will not wiggle a Military .50 BMG out with a pair of neddle nose pliers. These are crimped to feed thru high speed steel belts. |

A) if you think you can wiggle a high tac round out of a feldonist brass case with needle nose pliers you are alot stouter than anyone i have ever heard of.
B) durango is correct in the fact that they are crimped to the bullet but not just that but the brass is MELTED to that steel jacket alloyed bullet.

If by raw grit and sheer stubborness you managed to wiggle it out you wouldnt be able to get it back together again since the case mouth would be deformed. __________________ "Gun control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound." — L.
