To get Fenrir to run I dropped from the 24#, kit supplied recoil spring all the way down to a ISMI p/n 14CS - 14 lbs, chrome silicon spring. That's 2# less than a production .45 ACP recoil spring!

That makes Fenrir a reliable carry gun that my daughter racks with no problemo.

I can attest to the difficulty of racking a 24# slide.

Yes the 24# spring is a challenge. Mine is really just for fun. I was actually going to buy a 10mm Dan Wesson but I already had a .45 and really did not shoot it much. So I decided to convert. I reload for it so the only pain is chasing down my brass and we will see how many times I can use a shell. I wanted a beast handgun without breaking the bank. I succeded.

Now I need to name it.

It is a handful to rack the slide with the 24# spring. You just have to have a good grip on the slide is all. You have to remember I have large paws though.

CANEBRAKE: I have recently gotten back my S&W from Clark Custom converted to 460 Rowland but haven't fired it yet due to the Obama ammo shortage. I have seen one of pics of your 460 - MORE PLEASE! By the way, is yours showing any signs of peening inside?

While my S&W looks good and sexy - yours is over the top. More please!

Ammo is out there, not that many of us shooting the heavy 45!

Georgia Arms - .460 ROWLAND

460 Rowland Ammo

Cor-Bon Self-Defense Ammunition 460 Rowland 185 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Box of 20 - MidwayUSA

Cor-Bon Hunting Ammunition 460 Rowland 230 Grain Full Metal Jacket Box of 20 - MidwayUSA

I'm approaching 300 rounds downrange and find no signs of accelerated wear. (Except maybe on the shooter. ask gorknoids)

This is Fenrir before I peened the finish, dressed in Stag;

And dressed in Hogues as exercised by gorknoids;

Those Hogue fingergrove grips are - gasp - what sex should be about! No words adequately discribe the shivers I had upon first seeing them (slobber slobber). Man, Cane, I am jealous! You say they have been exercised; in what way?

Cane did I read your post right? You put in a 14# spring in the Fenrir???? I run a 20# spring in mine and have no problem, but I always assumed that running anything lower would damage the gun, so I have never tried. Is the 14# a permanent fix for fenrir. No issues?

Was that a Chris Matthews tingle going up your leg? Thanks, I think?

The Hogues were on Fenrir when fired (exercised) by that wacky Airedale Master Chief gorknoids.
