Even Ragnar Benson isn't that suicidal!

A shotgun barrel or even a blank isn't designed to handle the 52,000PSI that is generated by a 50BMG round. Even if it could, the platform (H&R) wouldn't handle the recoil generated.

I've toyed with idea of making a 50BMG, but like many people, there just aren't any 2,000yd ranges in my area. Then theres the lack of cheap M2 barrels these days.

Just got the thread notification the other day. Figured the board was dormant.

And yes, I'm strange!

Have a look around, this place has grown quite a bit.

No, its semi-semi-auto That is its semi auto half the time, the other half is misfeeds and other aggravating things. Uses the exact same lower FCG as any other AK, and a modified receiver (longer mag opening and FCG set back a bit) had to alter a bolt and bolt carrier from a PSL (heavier reciprocating weight, and longer piston), and of course an 8mm barrel which was robbed off a beater T38 Turk Mauser and turned down to fit in trunnion - headspacing was done the same way as an AK. Magazine is about 70% of the problem as I had to make one from scratch - only other mag that comes close is a G43 mag, and theres no way I'm paying $90+ for one to butcher up.

Its basically become a safe-queen until I get bored or inspired and drag it out again.

Does a Bic clicker ink pen, some JB weld, a ground down roofing nail, and a .22 round count???
It's amazing the stuff a few board 15 year olds can come up with on a rainy day in the barn.

I've built several .50 BMG's.

Two were Maadi-Griffen designs with lots of improvements.

One was built around a 10 shot Barret magazine. All were very accurate.
