Not only does teh new finish look good, it is also much needed. This Arsenal is a fine rifle, but the finish is beyond contempt. The black paint runs if you touch it with an alcohol swab. Well done.

This is beyond beautiful. Please give intimate details on this paint job! I've been wanting to do the same on a rifle of mine but am unsure on how to procede.

Thanks guys for the compliments

The first thing I did to the rifle was remove any oil with brakleen brake cleaner imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399726909.918387.jpg and then tape off any parts you don't want paint on with painters tape( elevation numbers and sights, the bolt for me for looks)

After drying I put a thick coat of tan as a base coat over the entire rifle with rust-oleum imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399727023.271838.jpg

I then gathered local foliage from the surrounding area to use as a pattern for the paint (you can see the pine in an earlier picture). I placed the vegetation over the rifle and used rust oleum OD green and that is the picture posted with the "tiger stripe" lookimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399727251.243056.jpg

I did the same thing with a lighter green and brown but covered the rifle almost completely so only a bit of the two colors would show. imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399727326.266484.jpg

I then blended the colors with the original OD green by spraying the rifle from about a foot away to shade in the sharp edges. (I let the paint dry in between every step) and after it was all dry I coated the rifle in a clear coat imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399727482.397040.jpg

This will most likely scratch and my shot gun has imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1399727601.217951.jpg my german shepherd got to it but I quite like the rugged look and I didn't use much paint on the shotgun. Use multiple coats if you want it to last longer. I hope this helps

More detailed pics, if possible. That's an interesting paint job.
