Default 5/16 or 8mm dovetail

I have a jc Higgins model 29 and the dovetail is smaller than a 3/8. It measures 5/16 or 8mm. Anyone out there find scope rings or mounts to accommodate that?

Yes, it is a .22, made by High Standard (strange looking stocks) Unfortunately, you have a problem. The only scope mounts I know of that will readily fit that are for the dinky little 15mm 4X scopes. There have been folks that have found ways to adapt mounts, but that rifle DID use a different spacing on the grooves.

Ah. Then I guess standard .22 scope mounts aren't gonna work. Thanks for the info.

It could be drilled and tapped for scope mounts or a 3/8" rail.

http://www.highstandard.com/contact-us/registration.html

Here is their page, at the bottom of the page is their complete contact info. Give them a call, they probably have the correct mounts.
