1911 build
I'm getting ready to build my own 1911 is there any tips anyone can give me? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have any experience building guns to working on 1911's? If you looking to make a tack driver you are going to have to hand fit many parts. A good set of stone files will be a must. If I didn't have a lot of experience with stuff liek this I'd get hold of a couple/few cheap practice guns to get a feel for what you want to do.

Patience, understanding, general knowledge of handtools, the Kuhnhausen books on the 1911, the Ed Brown CD on customizing, a bottle of whiskey

We have plenty of stories about how our builds went.

Although you will not save any money by building it yourself, the satisfaction is worth it.

(Hint: buy quality "named" parts. And "drop-in" parts are easy to install, but tolerances for such are on the sloppy side.)
