Default 1911 build

Got my 1911 together mostly, the slide after cycling is not engaging the sear, any help appreciated. This was an 80% frame and I hand fit everything pretty good. Didn't touch the hammer or sear though, do I have to do file work on sear to solve this problem? If I file the sear notch down it would engage the hammer higher up in the swing of the hammer correct?

Sorry cant answer your question at this point. But I am a machinist with acces to a very good machine shop and I was just wondering where you bought the 80% frame and slide? And are they from castings?

Does the hammer cock manually?
It sounds like the slide is not working the disconnector correctly. If the hole for the disconnector (in the frame) is not according to specs, the slide or sear spring may not position the disconnector the way it should.

It engages manually, taking a little off the sear did the job, like everything else the sear needed tuned also.
